Frederik Willem de Klerk, long renowned basically as FW de Klerk, is a former president of South Africa.
Frederik Willem de Klerk goes into the archives of history as the last President of the white minority government who was sufficiently intense to lead white South Africa away from an impractical and indefensible apartheidframework and to a non-racial, non-misogynist and democratic system in South Africa. In February 1990, he lifted a 30-year prohibition on the ANC and other freedom campaigns, and delivered Nelson Mandela following 27 years in jail.
De Klerk and Mandela cooperated for a new political course that ceased the white minority rule in the country. With Nelson Mandela, Klerk settled for a progress towards a non-racial state of democracy. With this and many more, Nelson Mandela called Mr. De Klerk "a man of uprightness". Through the F W De Klerk Foundation, he concentrated on harmony, public compromise and national development in the Republic of South Africa. His notable handover of power as President, his cancellation of political sanctions, and extermination of apartheid acquired him a Nobel Prize for harmony for Peace.
