Guillaume Emmanuel "Guy-Manuel" de Homem-Christo (French pronunciation:[ɡi(jome)manɥɛldəɔmɛmkʁisto]; born 8 February ) is a French musician. He is known as one half of the former French house music duo Daft Punk, along with Thomas Bangalter. He has produced several works from his now defunct record label Crydamoure with label co-owner Éric Chedeville.
Early life
Guillaume Emanuel de Homem-Christo was born on 8 February in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine. He is the great-grandson of Portuguese poet Homem Cristo Filho[pt], as well as the great-great-grandson of Portuguese military figure Francisco Manuel Homem Cristo, who was forced into exile in France in
He was given a toy guitar and keyboard at around age 7. He was eventually given an electric guitar at age 14; he still uses a guitar when writing music.
Career
Homem-Christo met Thomas Bangalter when they attended the Lycée Carnot school in Paris in It was there that they discovered their mutual fascination for films and music of the s and s: "very basic cult teenager things, from Easy Rider to the Velvet Underground". The two and Laurent Brancowitz eventually joined to form an indie rock trio called Darlin', in which Homem-Christo performed guitar. Bangalter felt that "It was still maybe more a teenage thing at that time. Daft Punk were a French electronic music duo formed in in Paris by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. They achieved early popularity in the late s as part of the French house movement, combining elements of house music with funk, disco, techno, rock and synth-pop. They are regarded as one of the most influential acts in dance music.
Daft Punk formed after Bangalter and de Homem-Christo's indie rock band, Darlin', disbanded. Their debut album, Homework, was released by Virgin Records in to positive reviews, backed by the singles "Around the World" and "Da Funk".
From , Daft Punk assumed robot personas for public appearances, with helmets, outfits and gloves to disguise their identities. They made few media appearances. They were managed from to by Pedro Winter, the head of Ed Banger Records. Daft Punk's second album, Discovery (), earned acclaim and further success, with the hit singles "One More Time", "Digital Love" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". It became the basis for an animated film, Interstella , supervised by the Japanese artist Leiji Matsumoto.
Daft Punk's third album, Human After All (), received mixed reviews, though the singles "Robot Rock" and "Technologic" were successful in the UK. Daft Punk directed an avant-garde science-fiction film, Electroma, released in They toured throughout and and released the live album Alive , which won a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album; the tour is credited for broadening the appeal of dance music in North America. Daft Punk composed the score for the film Tron: Legacy.
In , Daft Punk left Virgin for Columbia Records and released their fourth and final album, Random Access Memories, to acclaim. The lead single, "Get Lucky", reached the top 10 in the charts of 27 countries. Random Access Memories won five Grammy Awards in , including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for "Get Lucky

Guillaume Emmanuel "Guy-Manuel" de Homem-Christo (born February 8, ) is the co-founder and second-half of Daft Punk, beside Thomas Bangalter.
Early Life[]
Guy-Manuel De Homem Christo was born on February 8th, in the Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine. He is of Portuguese aristocratic descent: his great-grandfather was the writer and fascism advocate Homem Cristo Filho, whose father was the military figure Francisco Manuel Homem Cristo. He also has a younger brother, Paul de Homem-Christo.
He stated in an interview when he was 7 years old he was given a toy guitar and a keyboard and was given an electric guitar at He expresses he uses the guitar when writing music. He met Thomas Bangalter in school and quickly became friends due to their mutual fascination with films and music of the s and 70s. Eventually, Guy-Manuel, Thomas Bangalter, and Laurent Brancowitz formed Darlin', an indie rock band that was short lived. A negative review in Melody Maker referred to the act as "A bunch of daft punky thrash", to which they find the review amusing. This led to the disbanding of Darlin'.
Career[]
After the disbanding of Darlin' Guy and Thomas became interested in electronic music after going into a club in and formed Daft Punk. Guy is credited for creating the Daft Punk logo.
Besides Daft Punk work he is the co-founder of the group Le Knight Club which include himself and Eric Chedeville from Pumpking Records. Both are the founder of the record label Crydamoure, named after a variation of the French phrase "cri d'amour" or "cry of love" in English. Crydamoure also published works by Homem-Christo's brother Paul de Homem-Christo, under the name Play Paul. In regards to Crydamoure, Guy-Manuel stated:
