In another major blow to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) which landed in trouble following the May 9 riots, founding member and former Sindh governor Imran Ismail on Saturday bid farewell to the former ruling party, resigning from all party positions.

"This is my final political press conference. I am one of the founding members of PTI. Today, those who used to advise Imran Khan, they should think about it. Those who used to sit around Imran Khan and give him advice should reflect on their actions," Ismail said during a press conference in Karachi after being granted bail by an anti-terrorism court.

Former Sindh governor —who was among the members who sang the party's famous song "Tabdeeli Aaye Ray" — was arrested for inciting violence during the protests on May 9. He was released on a surety bond of Rs50,

He said that those involved in the events of May 9 should be punished, but it has not yet been proven in the inquiry who was involved.

"I resign from all positions in the PTI and step down from the basic membership of the party. However, whether my political career has ended or not, I have not made a final decision on that. Khan Sahib, I bid you and PTI farewell," he added.

Ismail joins the long list of PTI members who were quitting the former ruling party. Earlier in the day, Ali Zaidi and Makhdoom Khushro Bakhtiar also made announcements of parting ways with the former ruling party.

As the crackdown on PTI intensified in the aftermath of the May 9 violence, numerous PTI leaders, including close confidants of former premier Imran Khan, have been defecting from the party, leading to what the former prime minister referred to as "forced divorces."

Mr. Imran Ismail is the former Chairman of Karachi Chamber of Commerce’s Finance Committee. He also had the honor of serving as a member of the Managing Committee of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry.

Mr. Ismail started taking an active part in social and welfare work in as a volunteer for ShaukatKhannum Memorial Trust and later on launched the donation collection campaign in which he took help of several International Celebrities to raise funds for this Nobel also helped in Establishing Imran Khan Foundation after the floods in Pakistan. With this, he helped to establish a hospital in Jamshoro to help the flood affectees. For the same reason, he teamed up with Pukar Foundation to raise funds for the affectees and was able to collectRs. 2 billion.

Mr. Imran Ismail being a Founding Member of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf, has been a loyal party worker and has served on several positions within the party. He has previously served as President PTI Karachi, President PTI Sindh, Deputy Secretary General PTI and has also remained a member of several party committees.

En , il se présente dans la huitième circonscription de Karachi à l'Assemblée nationale à l'occasion d'élection partielle, mais échoue largement face à un candidat du Mouvement Muttahida Qaumi.

Lors des élections législatives de , il est largement élu député provincial dans la cinquième circonscription de Karachi-Sud. Il réunit en effet 46&#;% des voix face à vingt autres candidats et contre 13&#;% pour son principal rival du Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal. Il démissionne cependant de son poste de député provincial quand il est choisi par Imran Khan pour devenir gouverneur du Sind. Il prête serment le et indique dans son discours que le problème de gestion de l'eau sera sa principale priorité.

Early life and education

He was born on 1 January in Karachi, Pakistan, into the Delhi Punjabi Saudagaran community.

Political career

He is one of the founding members of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and was also one of the key founding member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He parted ways with Imran Khan's PTI in May over the 10 May controversy.

He ran for a seat in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in the Sindh provincial election from PS Karachi East-III as a candidate of the PTI, but was unsuccessful. He received 1, votes and was defeated by Waseem Akhtar, a candidate of the Haq Parast Group (HPG).
