My happy place and not even because of what is cooked but because of what I’m surrounded by. The pieces that take me back to the Mexico I know. Far away from the stereotype. Filled with rich textures and traditions. My Mexico. You’ll see all those pieces scattered throughout the book, as it was important to me that the serving dishes were as authentic as the food itself. That they be real and a part of this life we live in San Diego, holding on HARD to our Tijuana roots.

Service comes in different shapes and this is mine, to remind anyone that has forgotten that to have roots in Mexico is a privilege and an honor bestowed to the lucky few in this community.

Just a few years ago it wasn’t that cool to show your Mexican heritage. I’ve been shouting from the rooftops since day one that I’m from Tijuana. Before the trendy street food shows on Netflix or the all-of-a-sudden-proudly Mexican celebs (so cute ). I never felt the need to prove how Mexican I was because I just WAS.
Point is, be proud of where you came from, regardless of it being trendy or not. That pride has given me a 20 year career… and it feels like I’m only getting started. Click link in bio for presale links!
